As of 2021, there are 97 universities in Canada, offering education in English and French. There are over 1.8 million students enrolled in university with degree programs generally lasting three to four years. Campus Developments takes a partnership based approach with universities in Canada to assist in addressing their student housing needs.
Our ‘Campus Invests’ program allows universities to propose flexible structures where Campus Developments invests to develop student housing to fill a university’s housing gap. This allows universities the flexibility to allow capital to be allocated towards expanding critical teaching and research infrastructure, rather than student residences.
In many instances, the purpose built student accommodation (PBSA) that Campus builds are mixed use developments that also includes various amenities, retail and commercial facilities that are tailored to cater to the needs of students in a post covid era, thereby attracting a larger cohort of students to the institution. This synergistic relationship with universities provides for increased value that permeate across stakeholders and most importantly result in higher quality, healthier and safer experiences for students.
Campus also advises and collaborates with universities on their housing expansion plans whether for new student housing developments or redeveloping/repurposing a university’s existing housing assets.
